Don’t know what show others saw, but he was brilliant. It was a very fun and moving night. Would see him again in a heartbeat.

An entertaining evening

His "Being Alive" tour is about life, covering a range of songs and a few stories that give us insight into our lives and his. Songs touched on things such as young love (A Tisket, a Tasket), discrimination (You Got to Be Taught), the heartbreak of aging parents, money, fame, big dreams, and hope. His several stories, humorously told, gave us insight to his history, from his birth through youth and his early Broadway career and how it ties to his youth. My wife and I are still discussing Patinkin's performance today. We'd gladly go see him perform again.

A Renaissance Songsmith

Attending the Patinkin performance in Mesa a few days ago affirmed my perception of this gentleman as an American treasure. His humor, rapport with the audience, thematic medleys, and nonstop enthusiasm made for an evening few artists can muster, much less maintain for so long without an intermission. I hope other reviewers, most apparently attending a different show that preceded this one, since their reviews were posted before the Mesa performance, managed to see Mandy Patinkin and enjoy his art the way the audience did here.

Blindsided

I've been loving Mandy's voice/style for decades and last night I finally saw him perform. I cried through the whole show. At first it was from happiness and then it was from sadness. It was moving - downhill slowly. I'm so sad that I left a Bucket List stunned and confused. People couldn't get out fast enough. :(

Rework your story telling into the songs

Mandy is a story teller, actor and his voice, although not a good as it once was, still has command of a theater. The problem with this show was that it was hard at times to know what was parody and what was meant to be serious theater. He was at best when with his selection from the Music Man, at worst on Bohemiam Rapsody...he had none of the soaring heartbreak of Freddie Mercury. He also did well on Lyle Lovett's If I had a Pony, but fell flat on Being Alive, which should have been the signature song. It's all there Mandy, just think a bit about why we like you. It's your story and your voice and the flatness of it, the lack of energy on those big notes, was missing. Still am glad I went to see this legend.

Selection of songs disappointing

We saw him last night at Suffolk Theatre. Selection of his songs were disappointing.
